With just two weeks before existing funding set to run out, the head of Philadelphia’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program said Friday that he is hopeful more money could be coming quickly. Greg Heller, the Executive Director of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority, said an additional $50 million dollars could be on the way from the state and federal governments. Nearly 56,000 households applied for assistance in Philadelphia, but, to date, $99.9 million has helped just 13,454 households. The city only has $15 million remaining. “We are hopeful that additional dollars will arrive before we exhaust those remaining funds!” Heller said. Philadelphia’s program was featured on CNN this morning.
