Pennsylvania’s landlords and tenants learned a big lesson early in the pandemic when millions of dollars in unused emergency rental money was transferred to the state’s corrections department.

Since then, Hapco Philadelphia pushed the City of Philadelphia to disburse COVID rental relief monies quickly.

City hall got the message and distributed the funds to struggling landlords and tenants in record time.

But as Philadelphia runs out of money, there’s millions of dollars in unspent funds in more rural parts of Pennsylvania where there are fewer renters.

Hapco Philadelphia is urging lawmakers in Harrisburg to reallocated unspent funds from rural areas to cities and counties that still have landlords and tenants who are desperate for help.
